Dear Covid 19

Dear Covid-19,

2020 has been a strange year because of you, so many people have suffered, are suffering, and will continue to suffer. Through all this, the silver lining is that this entire period has highlighted so many things that I have taken for granted, things like travelling for holiday or even the simple act of having a nice meal out with friends, activities I wouldn't normally think twice about, now seem so luxurious when I imagine them happening in my head.

... this has been a reminder that we don’t need a pandemic to improve ourselves, we simply just need to make the choice to set aside time for it.

I have spent more time at home in the last 3 months, more time with my parents than I have in a very very long time, and it has been amazing. I have picked up new skills- learning how to edit videos, learning how to do workouts from home, I have also failed at picking up new skills- didn't quite learn how to play the keyboard or speak French well, but this has been a reminder that we don't need a pandemic to improve ourselves, we simply just need to make the choice to set aside the time for it.

I don't know when this will all end, and even if it does, I don't know who we will be when we emerge from the other side. I do know that life won't quite be the same. But I know that most of us have spent this time looking inward, reflecting, and subconsciously growing as people, so this gives me hope for us to do better, to be better, so that we can forgive those of us that are weaker and support those of us that are stronger, and together we will get through this.
