Dear Covid 19

Dear COVID-19,

Your arrival has taken a toll on all of us, but I like to look for the silver lining in the current situation.

Due to our hectic work schedule, Porky, our beloved Shih Tzu, only sees us in the morning and night. Now, she sticks to me all day, wagging her fluffy tail and smiling up at me in utter happiness, asking to be carried in my arms while I do my Zoom meetings.

In the past, every time I saw an interesting book, I’d buy it, telling myself, “I will read it when I have time.” Time which I never had when life was normal. Time which I used to catch up on sleep. Now, I am finally able to flip these pages and let my mind explore beyond the confines of work.

This is also the first time live plants have survived in my care. Now I have seven pots of greenery which are growing beautifully. Imagine that, I have a green thumb after all.

I miss my normal life when everything was fast-paced with so much happening I could barely breathe. I revel in chaos.

I miss my normal life when everything was fast-paced with so much happening I could barely breathe. I revel in chaos.

But this calm is also good. I feel at peace and collected. I am finally able to take a big break without feeling guilty of not doing more. I will be recharged and renewed with a fresh perspective of life, moving ahead.
